Tacoma Union Station

We conducted a condition assessment of the windows, metal, and painted surfaces with repair recommendations, outline specifications, and a cost estimate for the historic Tacoma Union Station.  This assessment provided design build guidelines for the sensitive repair of the Station which was constructed from 1909-1911 and designed by the architects Reed and Stem who also collaborated on Grand Central Terminal in New York City. Tacoma Union Station is an excellent example of Beaux-Arts architecture and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.  Therefore all recommendations were in keeping with the Secretary of Interior’s Guidelines for Rehabilitation.  Formerly a train station, the building is leased by the General Services Administration and currently functions as a U.S. Courthouse.
