TriMet North Terminus

 

The North Terminus of TriMet’s Portland Mall Light Rail Line consisted of restoring Union Station’s abandoned switching tower, built circa 1896, to house the signals and communication equipment for the new MAX Green Line.  To salvage this small piece of history and return it to a modernized version of its original use, the renovation included a seismic upgrade, restoration of the historic facade and roof, and an update to the building systems.
