As Hennebery Eddy Architects continues to grow and position for long-term success, we have expanded our leadership team. In 2024, the firm ranked second on the Portland Business Journal’s list of Largest Architecture Firms and had active projects in 13 states. In 2025, the addition of three principals and two associate principals reinforces our standing and helps establish new benchmarks for design excellence, client service, staff development, and studio culture.
Principals
Camilla Cok AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C
In 14 years with the firm, Camilla Cok has exemplified Hennebery Eddy’s values of taking personal ownership and making others successful by building client relationships, mentoring emerging staff, and advancing our sustainable design strategies. Camilla has been involved in notable design projects and ambitious sustainability efforts, from the highly awarded Cascades Academy and Fire Station 76 to the firm’s largest project to date, the PDX Concourse E Extension. She helped establish our Bend studio and develop our presence in Central Oregon through her leadership on the $130M, net-zero energy City of Bend Public Works Campus (in construction) and the Central Oregon Ready Responsive Resilient (CORE3) public safety training and emergency coordination center (in design). An alumna of Leadership Bend, Camilla will continue to lead the development of Hennebery Eddy’s Bend studio.
Erica Thompson AIA, WELL AP, LEED
Erica Thompson quickly established herself at the firm as a skilled project manager and sustainable design leader. She builds trust internally and externally by taking to heart our core value and foundational approach of listening first. Erica leads some of the firm’s most ambitious projects, such as the Living Building campus for Great Smoky Mountains Institute in Tennessee and the design-build rehabilitation of c.1925 Anderson Hall at the University of Washington. Closer to home, she also managed the conceptual design for a new, highly sustainable visitor center at Hoyt Arboretum in Portland’s Forest Park and oversaw a coalition proposing renovation of downtown Portland’s Keller Auditorium. Erica is vice chair of the City of Portland Planning Commission and co-leader of Hennebery Eddy’s Portland studio promoting our involvement in the community.
Nick Byers AIA, DBIA, LEED
Since joining the firm in 2012, Nick Byers has demonstrated the firm’s guiding principles of advancing the profession and seeking new ideas. Nick champions several Hennebery Eddy initiatives, including recently serving as president of the Oregon Chapter of the Design Build Institute of America and being deeply involved in our hiring and annual review process helping to recruit and retain a talented, diverse design team. Nick has expertise in allied health facilities, challenging renovations, and flexible learning spaces such as the Rogue Community College Health Professions Center, the Washington State University—Spokane Medicine Building design-build renovation, and the University of Oregon Heritage Project which includes rehabilitating two National Historic Landmarks. A leader of our academic practice and a subject matter expert in progressive design-build partnerships, Nick will continue to serve institutions throughout the region.
Associate Principals
Liz Bray NCIDQ, LEED AP
With 30 years of industry experience, Liz Bray is an accomplished corporate, commercial, and institutional interior design leader. Beyond that, she is a dedicated project manager, trusted client adviser, and treasured mentor known for her positive, high-energy approach. Liz has a broad portfolio that spans several markets and brings this experience to guide her teams. Her expertise includes career technical education facilities, such as the Portland Community College Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Training Center and Lane Community College Industry and Trades Center, and aviation facilities, like the Redmond International Airport Terminal Expansion and multiple lounges for Alaska Airlines. She continues to help lead our aviation practice while supporting our range of markets with integrated interior design.
Tim Mitchell AIA
As a project manager and historical architect with over 24 years’ experience focused on the preservation of historic resources, Tim Mitchell helps lead our state and national parks practice. He is key to our successful relationship with the National Park Service, including rehabilitation projects at Yellowstone, Petrified Forest, Olympic, and Badlands National Parks, among others. Drawing on his expertise of NPS projects designed in the Park Service Modern style, Tim is leading work on several Mission 66-era structures in parks throughout the West, including the significant net-zero energy rehabilitation of the iconic Painted Desert Community Complex, originally designed by Richard Neutra, in Petrified Forest National Park. Tim readily shares his knowledge with others, including mentoring internal Historic Resources Group members, presenting project experiences at national conferences, and leading professional development workshops in tandem with NPS’ Historic Preservation Training Center.
