The Industry & Trades Education Center (ITEC) at Lane Community College is officially open! More than a new building, ITEC provides a welcoming eastern gateway to campus and a central hub for workforce development programs. At the recent dedication ceremony, the community came together to celebrate years of hard work and public investment.
Nestled into the hillside, the highly transparent design reinforces the presence of career technical education on campus — bringing more students, visitors, and industry partners in contact with the CTE district and creating the opportunity for cross-pollination. ITEC provides state-of-the-art learning spaces for programs such as apprenticeship training, aviation unmanned aircraft systems, construction technology, and manufacturing technology.
During the spring open house, visitors explored three large double-height bays where natural light from roof monitors enhances the space. They watched a large robotic arm in action and tiny homes under construction. One of the coolest features? The building itself teaches. Exposed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in the hallways help students in construction technology and apprenticeship training see the inner workings firsthand.
ITEC’s opening marks a major step forward in workforce development, providing students with hands-on training to empower the next generation of skilled professionals. Congratulations to Lane Community College and our project partners, including Lease Crutcher Lewis.
