Hennebery Eddy and Mortenson Construction’s delivery of the Clark College Advanced Manufacturing Center has been recognized by DBIA Northwest Region with an Award of Merit in the Educational Facilities Category. The DBIA Northwest awards program recognizes exceptional design-build projects across the Pacific Northwest.
The new Clark College Advanced Manufacturing Center supports Southwest Washington’s high-tech industries and the growing demand for STEM-based career pathways. By providing hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and providing a welcoming environment for all students to thrive, the AMC directly meets this community need and equips students for advanced technical careers.
The building features flexible spaces that foster belonging and are adaptable for different training programs and equipment. Transparency and community access drove the design, demonstrated through high-bay views into the learning lab. Student support is prioritized with an advising suite near the main entrance, centered around a communal gathering space, and a student kitchenette that incorporates the Penguin Pantry, Clark College’s free food resource. Classrooms accommodate varied programs, and collaboration areas can expand to support additional instructional needs. The project achieved LEED Silver certification; all systems were designed for operational flexibility and strong long-term energy performance.
The awards were evaluated by a panel of DBIA jurors, who assessed each project based on its effective use of innovative, team-driven design-build strategies, adherence to budget and schedule, and overall excellence in design and construction.
