This 122-unit, five-story apartment building located in Northeast Portland is on an unusually shaped 80’ x 460’ urban infill site. We established a strong street edge and pedestrian scale with a trellised public terrace, seating-height walls, and planter areas doing double duty for stormwater disposal. Retail space anchored the south end of the building, and common terraces with dramatic city and mountain views were incorporated into the top floor. The project was designed in an especially cost-conscious manner, using environmentally sensitive components and materials and featuring the first eco-roof constructed on a wood-framed apartment building in Portland.
“I am continually struck by what a splendid job you did on the design. The amazing part of this was that you had to work within such a tight budget. You and your staff did your part in keeping other construction costs down, but never did so by sacrificing good design or quality.”
