Hennebery Eddy transformed 95,000 square feet of office space into a new world headquarters for the golf division of an apparel and equipment corporation. The design reinforces their global brand and mission through a series of elements inspired by the tradition, kinetics, and technology of golf. Two new light-filled spaces – the main lobby and a multipurpose event space – were created by cutting openings in the existing second floor. The centerpiece of the lobby is a two-story wood and aluminum sculpture, which forms an abstract topographic image of a golf hole and represents the growth of the brand and the evolution in golf club technology from wood to metal. The event space serves as an all-staff meeting area, casual interaction zone, and athlete reception venue. The two-story space is framed on opposite ends by a golf simulator and a mock retail store. New sliding doors bring in additional light and open to outdoor seating and a three-hole putting course. Conference rooms, informal gathering spaces, and transitional spaces are marked throughout the project by suspended wood ceilings and “built” graphics consisting of custom wood and aluminum screens.
